It’s Friday night, and you are just getting off of work. It was a long day and you are hungry. You do not want to cook, but you also don’t
think you want to go somewhere and wait for a restaurant booth and deal with
crowds. What to do? This conundrum affects millions of Americans,
and the often used-solution to this is take-out.
Whether it’s ordering a pizza or some Chinese dumplings, Americans spend
billions a year on takeout. Takeout has
become so popular, in fact, that many restaurant table-and-chair venues now
have special To-Go offerings and services to facilitate that need. In some localities, there are even special
delivery services that offer to pick up food from restaurants that do not have
their own delivery service and deliver it to their customers.
Just
a phone call away
The vast appeal of takeout lies in the sheer convenience of it. You can either order it from your restaurant
of choice and pick it up, and bring it home to eat in the comfort that is your
own domain, or you can simply call it in and have someone bring it right to
your doorstep. With delivery, you need
not get dressed at all to enjoy your favorite restaurant’s food, though the
delivery person would probably prefer it if you did. Therein lies the appeal of takeout – not
having to go out and deal with anyone, and being absolutely comfortable, while
still enjoying the fine foods from your favorite restaurant. At home you already have your comfortable
chair, and table, or even couch.
Pizza
Pizza
Pizza is, and has been for quite some time, one of the most popular food
choices in the United States, and definitely one of the, if not the, top choice
when it comes to takeout. The options
run the gamut from your favorite local pizza parlor to the world famous pizza
chains, such as Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Domino’s, etc. Americans love their pizza. Whether it has
pepperoni or mushrooms, or for those brave souls, anchovies,
Americans eat many millions of slices of pizza every year. Pizza delivery has become engrained into our
popular culture. The image of the pizza
delivery person coming to your door with a delicious pie covered in your favorite
toppings is featured throughout movies, television, print media and even social
media. Chains like Domino’s and Papa
John’s are solely delivery chains and have forgone the traditional table,
chair, and booth seating restaurant and have opted to go the route of being
solely delivery.
Sometimes
though, you just want to get away.
With all of the advantages of eating in the comfort of your own home,
sometimes you just want to get away and enjoy a night at your favorite place to
eat. Traditional table and chair
restaurants are still thriving and strong, and continue to grow, even with the
advent of the newer, popular delivery and takeout services. In the end, Americans will still want to go
out and eat.
